Has anyone ever cut a hole in the console boot in the back of the computer to make battery replacement easier. I was thinking of doing things but figured I would ask advice first. The only problem I can foresee is if the boot loses a little integrity and the computer starts slipping.

Get a couple smooth round ended bike tire irons, stiff plastic will be OK. Warm the boot up in hot tap water, meaning not TOO hot. This makes it more flexible. Bend it over your knee, pry it out.

Some computers are kind of fussy about getting the O-ring and outer cover in place. I know I want full access to the computer and a clean workspace for this. A hole in the boot provides neither.

Warm water...
