hey guys, anyone have any experience with both the
SD100 and the SD110? since they both fit the WP-DC10
undewater housing, i was wondering which to get
(i am replacing my lost SD100).

any significant differences between the 100 and the 110?
i noticed they are both 3.2 mp

ok, for what it's worth, i've done quite a bit of reading, and for the life of me,
i can't figure out what's different. when the SD110 first came out, it came out
at 2.1 MP, but now that it has been updated to 3.2 (same as the SD100), i just
can't figure out what the difference is.

i have noted that Canon is no longer manufacturing the SD100, just the SD110, so
i guess they decided to stop making two identical cameras and stick with one.

here are the Canon homepages for both cameras, in case anyone else has this
question later on:

Andy....is that an SD100 or S100?

Here's a comparison.

Or here to choose what you want for a side by side comparison.

Hope it helps.

nope, the S100 is a different style

i noticed that they don't even list the SD100 in that site, Dee... Canon must have
discontinued it and stuck with the SD110. they do sound a lot like the same thing

From what I've been able to figure out, the companies will change some feature, frequently a minor one, and put it out as the newest/greatest model and discontinue the old one in order to sell the new one. I guess it's the pressure of keeping up with the digital industry.

If you can't spot any major differences, I'd go with the one with the higher number of pixels.

Andy, I was checking out the links you provided and found this on the SD100 site.
A compatibility problem has been found between PowerShot SD100 DIGITAL ELPH/DIGITAL IXUS II cameras and some SD card from other manufacturers. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have already experience because of this problem.
Now I'm just speculating but I'll bet canon fixed the problem then re-numbered the camera to prevent any confusion. They (SD100 & SD110) do seem identical as do the A300 and the new A310.

thanks... i think that's a very good explanation

ok.. i have confirmed that Canon is no longer making the SD-100, but i can't confirm
why... so... if you try to buy an SD100 from now on, chances are you'll have to buy
an SD110. they're similarly priced, so no biggie (they are the SAME camera I tell you!)

I think it may just be a software change. It may use the newer digic processing.

Andy,

I have the SD-100, as far as I know the SD-110 is exactly the same, but doesn't suffer from using cheaper SD cards. Some SD cards simply don't work with the SD-100. I always thought the SD-110 was simply to show this defect had been fixed. However, you are saying the SD-110 was originally a 2.1 mp, and I was unaware of this.

Like you, I have seen no difference between the two.

How do you like the canon underwater housing? I either going to get one for my SD-100, or buy a Canon A80 with a housing. I prefer to stick with SD cards though, as I have a gigabytes worth of them.
