Comparision of 2nd Stages: Apeks XTX100 vs Apeks XTX100 Status

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum here.

I currently have Apeks XTX100 with XTX40 and am very happy with them. My partner is getting into diving and as we live in Austria, we will be doing cold and warm water diving. We are getting the same regs for her. The thing is that I have seen the Apeks XTX100 status with XTX40 for cheaper than the XTX100 with XTX40 here.

I am not interested in the status itself but as the set is cheaper and since I have several brand new Apeks 1st stages at home, I wanted to ask if there is any difference in the 2nd stage of the XTX100 (status vs normal) or if the only difference lies with the 1st stage status. If there is no difference in the 2nd stage I would just get it changed out and save myself some €s.

Would be great if someone would be able to answer my question.

Status just has this device in the 1st stage, as far as I know the second stages are XTX100

If you want to save money buy the xtx 50 second stage. Other than a bit of shiny stuff on the cover, the 50, 100 and 200 second stages are identical.

Thanks for the info. I thought that the 2nd stages were the same but wasnt sure.

Yeah I was looking at the 50s but are not stocking them in the shop I got to - they could order them but they would land up costing more that the XTX100 and XTX40 set they have in stock (and I cant find them any cheaper online either).

I suggest that you also look into the reliability and durability of the "first stage-status". A few years back, there had been issues raised regarding the same by those who have tried it.

I actually have no intention of using the "first stage-status" and will be trying to get shot of it the moment I get it to change out for one of the first stages I have at home. Would only get this kit as its currently being offered cheaper than the kit with any of the other Apeks first stages.

Second stages are indeed the same

The reason the status kit is cheaper is probably because nobody wants them

Status has the digital display of IP right? I recall reading at least one report of this display failing.
