Hi All,

I have a Cyclon 5000 reg which I use as a Primary and a Triton second stage which I use as a backup/octopus. The question I would like you all to answer is this: the cyclon has an IP of 174PSI (12 Bar) and the Triton has an IP of 123 PSI (8.5 Bar. Should I have the IP set to the Cyclon or the Triton specs? Or should I look at getting another reg for my octopus? The Cyclon breathes really good with a tendency to free flow when out of the mouth. The triton does not breathe as well even thought the specs say that the triton should deliver more air than the cyclon (1100l/min and 1050l/min respectively).

Any help would be appreciated.

Macaroni and Cheese, we can get Rainreg to come up and answer this one. He is the resident regulator Guru and would be most happy to answer your question.

You can crank your IP down to the Triton max of 152 psi.
(I checked the technical spec sheet)
It's pretty common to "de-tune" the Cyklons.
Rotate the little white nylon barrel inside the mouthpiece on the Cyklon to desensitize it if running full IP.
E-me if you need more info, etc on Poseidon goodies.

Thanks Bob3,

If I crank down the IP will that affect the breathing on the cyclon. At the moment it breathes really good. Will running the triton at the higher pressure damage it?

The factory spec sheet says 152 psi max for the Triton, so that's just fine. The Cyklon should be OK as well, you'd notice the difference (if any) at your deeper depths. Chances are you probably wouldn't notice much at all for shallower (under 130') depths.
It is always nice to have matching IPs on your gear tho. After all, any excuse to get more toys is a good one, eh?
