I'll be heading down for my annual trip this weekend and am toying with the idea of bringing some gear down...anything good to look at around the chute or upstream from that? What's it like this time of year? Do I need a wetsuit?

Comal is constant temp and around 70 to 72. A 5mil is good for most folks. Bring some extra weight as it seems to help keep you down in the current. Right now, this area is being hit pretty hard with storms and it usually takes a few days for the river to clear up, so it might be low vis on the 12th.

Comal is a low stress dive and lots of folks do it solo. Typical depth is 8 feet with 12 to 13 being the deepest. Enjoy!

The Guadalupe River is running over the Commons Street bridge in New Braunfels. The Guadalupe River below the Comal River in Comal County has reached 14.5 feet above the 13-foot flood level, and the water was expected to rise to about 20 feet by the end of the day. I'd say the Comal will still be a mess (vis wise) on Saturday.

This time of year it is flooding....
Right now, to dive at the chute or upstream, you would need an aircraft arrestor cable and infrared lenses.
