I don't know if there is any/enoug interest in this but as a diver I love SB and all the great information I get to take in here. But I also have the desire to meet other young people on the board. I'm 21 years old and it's awesome to go out diving with some of the veterans on SB who have a lot to offer but it would also be neat to meet kids from other universities and see if/how the scuba club at their school is or maybe planning dive trips for college kids.

I just think that this group is sort of overlooked in diving b/c I realize it's hard for most people to buy gear afford vacations, and pay for certifications but I think it is even more increasingly difficult for college students. I would love to meet other students on this board. Of course HSers would be invited too as I don't think there is enough interest in just college.

How can we go about getting a group on here like the single divers adn solo divers groups? Is there any other students out there who would be interested?

Two of the colleges in my area offer Scuba diving as an elective class through a local SSI dive center at a discounted rate. Granted, you only get credit for base classes and not specialties, but you still get college credit.

So with that in mind, I constantly suggest diving as an elective class for those who need an easy credit to fill for graduation.

I don't recall the official rules, but I believe your message is the first step. I started the Rocky Mountain Oyster group by telling people that I wanted to start the club. I mentioned it several times, and I told them to PM me if they were interested. When I had the necessary number of commitments via PM, I notified the powers at SB and we had a club.

I wish my high school down here had a scuba club....but noooooooooo we have a poetry club instead!

I'll go ahead and send a PM then and if any college kids see this PM me and let me know that you would be interested in joining

The instructor I did my OW and AOW through gives a great college discount and is the "coach" for the OSU Scuba Club, anyways he is awesome, but he's looking at branching into HSes too and trying to start dive clubs in HS's. One HS around here wants to offer scuba certifications with Biologoy class.

Actually I'll be in Fl twice in the next two months. I'm going to be on Siesta Key near Tampa July 15-22, and then in High Springs for Cavern certs in middle of August. I don't know how far you live from both but let me know I'll definatly be diving on both trips and youre invited
