If I can't be diving there is nothing to stop me from thinking about it. I'm kind of new to this type of forum so if I'm butting in I apologize. I was just looking for other divers in the Kentucky area or who like to dive Kentucky's Lakes. Any of you guys gather at Dale Hollow or Cumberland?

The divers from the bluegrass sate seem to be a very active group. I know there are several that like to hit Falling Rock quarry in LaGrange and there has been talk of a gathering at Dale Hollow sometime late in the summer. I imagine with the recent ice storm that hit lexington the responses will be slow to come, but once they get power back you will see that this is a very active group.

If you ever want to try and find someone to dive with...these guys seem to be diving all the time. Keep watching this section...there's always something going on...and they recently have adopted this idea of a monthly dinner where they get together and terrorize some restaurant.

As for activity...I think lack of action is directly related to the snow storm you guys got...

My Uncle and I dove Cumberland about every other weekend last summer and we will probably hit Dale Hollow a few times this year. I'll keep an eye on the board here to see if any of you might be headed to our area. There are some good dive sites in Cumberland, but were always looking for the better local dive.

Hi,

We enjoyed diving on Dale Hollow the couple of time we've been there. Where do you normally dive on Cumberland and what depths. Have you been down on some of the old town sites?

Most of our diving has been around the dam area of the lake which would be the west end or the south end of the lake. One of our more frequented spots is directly across from Halcomb's landing or the south end of the dam. There is an island over there close to the dam. The depths range from just a few feet to 180 + feet out from the island. We usually dive the wall and go anywhere from 30 to 80 ft. The water is fairly clear for a lake. Probably 10 to 20 ft. vis. depending on the time of year and the number of vacationers riding around. Its a good local cliff dive. Another interesting dive has been the wooden house boat or so we were told thats what it was. Its under 20 ft or so of water has a length of probably 50 ft. and all thats left are the huge hull beams. Its location is hard to describe.

Welcome to the board. The ice has us shut down right now but keep an eye on the KPP section and join us for a get together or let us know when you are going to get wet and we will try to join you.

Dive Safe.

We have dove Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow a few times. Would like to try Laural Lake. I have been told that the vis is so much better. We were there Last Memorial Weekend but the lake was 6+ feet above pool which caused it to muddy up. Has anyone experenced diving this lake? Also we often camp at Conley Bottoms on lake Cumberland or Wolfe Creek on Dale Hollow and would be interested in a diving weekend this summer.

I have dove Laurel Lake on several occassions. Many of those dives have been between 70 and 100 feet deep. Even at 100 feet I have not needed a light. and the viz was 20 to 30 feet. The water can be chilly at those depths i.e. high 30's to low 40's.

Most of those dives are near the spillway near the dam.
