Im diving at the moment in water that i consider quite cold: 12 degrees celcius at the surface and about 8 at 30m. When i remove my mask in this cold water i find it hard to breath and have a gagging reflex. How do you prevent this as i fear the day at 30m i loose my mask?

like in training, you can pre-flood your mask to let your face get used to the water temp

Practice makes perfect - so practice mask removal to get your face accustomed to the initial shock of cold wate

I had similar experiences removing my mask fast in 34F water (+1C?) - as long as i know what to expect, i am fine

In cold water, especially when your diving a full-face mask it helps to immerse your face into the water bare first to adjust to the temperature and then don the mask.

Same information as Vlada is recommending.

Dive Safe,
