What causes that "icecream headache" feeling you get when jumping into VERY cold water? Can this condition/sensation adversely effect diving? Do drysuit divers get these "icecream" headaches?

The first ice cream headache I got while diving was when I was in a drysuit. It was paralyzing, and I had to hang onto the anchor line and clamp my eyes shut for about a minute. It finally went away. It makes my eyes water just thinking about it.
