I whent back and checked deja-news (aka google groups).
I get the same type of statistics: 90% of all "coke alert"s are in posts conitining "scuba".
Cheking older posts first, it seems that a "news-group coke alert agrement" required such a warning as standard practice as early as august 1999.

I know what a coke is, but Im still not sure what a "lert" is?
