My Cobalt exploded. Literally. It had faithfully served since 2013. Today, on the boat before departing, it exploded with a bang. The front cover and several parts came flying off. It was under pressure (about 3000 psi) but it was just sitting there. I collected the pieces.

Sorry to see/hear it go.

Sorry... What is a Cobalt ?

LOL

It is/was a dive computer sold by Atomic Aquatics, but it was discontinued a very long time ago.

There was an issue- resulting in a recall for service- early on in Cobalt production. It had to do with a retaining fitting for the high pressure sensor not being tightened enough in some instances, resulting in a possible air leak, pressurizing the interior. Since the housing is not designed to contain high pressure, it resulted in exactly what you describe, usually when air was first turned on. That sounds like what may have happened with yours. It's kind of amazing it happened after 12 years.

Later on Atomic modified the case design to provide a vent in case of a high pressure leak to the interior.

I'll message you about a possible replacement.
