From Busy weekend for Coast Guard in Washington, Oregon | NEWS UPDATES - The News Tribune
The agency says it rescued two divers who were caught in strong currents west of Whidbey Island, Wash., on Saturday evening, and then crews also rescued the people who were operating their dive boats. The dive boats had intentionally been grounded on Smith Island, and couldn't be re-launched due to rough weather.
One of the divers was flown to a Port Angeles hospital for treatment of hypothermia.
Around the same time, a Coast Guard helicopter crew spotted two other divers who became stranded on Island Rock near Port Orford, Ore. The helicopter couldn't reach them, but a lifeboat crew did, and brought them to Gold Beach.
