What is a good way to "stow" items like slate, whistle, and sausage, etc to keep them from floating around, slowing me down and just looking plaint "nerdy"???

I'm no expert, but here's what I do:

I have a flat whistle (with a clip built in) clipped to the underside of my shoulder harness (between the nylon strap and the padding, out of the way) with the lanyard coiled around it so that it uncoils if I ever unclip the whistle.

My slate is a wrist slate, so it automatically stows as I hold my arms across my chest. I also mounted my dive watch to the slate, because I didn't like having so many straps.

does your BCD have pockets?? if so, most things like that can fit in, if not you can ge pouches and even these shorts that have leg pockets like army pants that do the trick.

Danglies are very uncool..

what do you wear for a suit? I put pockets on my drysuit to store my smb, backup mask...... Everything else is clipped off with boltsnaps on d-rings.

I'm going to cut down an old BC and make my own left and right pockets. Then I'll have an organized setup for extras. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Thanks!

First things first. Just take what you need for a given dive. You probably don't need your deco-buoy most of the time so just take it when you're boat diving or when you have a particular application in mind.

As for stowing I'll tell you what I do:

My whistle is attached to my backup light, which I take on every dive.

My backup light has a bolt snap added to it and hangs from the bolt snap on a d-ring. It's held close to the bcd with a bit of velcro in my case (I modified both my light and my bcd for this) but could have also been done with a bit of bungee.

In terms of the danglies, velcro and bungie are your friends.

My deco-bouy is clipped to my reel and the reel is clipped to a d-ring. Sometimes I hang this lower left but I also have a d-ring on my weightbelt and sometimes I hang it there because it's out of the way and easier to access.

In terms of wetnotes, tables etc etc in all in pockets. If your suit doesn't have a pocket on the thigh then you might consider having one added. Thigh pockets are much easier to access than bcd pockets.
