Mine yellowed too after several years of use, even with meticulous cleaning.

I found using my fingers to massage the skirt with adaquate amounts of toothpaste cleaned it up nicely.

Prudent_Rabbit:
you know those little plastic inserts you use so the foot pocket holds its shape? He'd been WEARING the fins with them in all along. Took them out, and the fins were much more comfortable!....

Quality, never heard that one before,
LOL, I thought I was the only one that did that. I had put them in the fins while flying to Maui. Then next day while doing a shore dive the fins didn't quite feel right. Only when degearing did I notice the inserts. My buddy couldn't stop laughing.

As for yellowing masks, as Trevinkorea says, a non-jel toothpaste will get most of it off, but you have to work it a bit, as if you are polishing the surface. My defog mixture of 50/50 baby shampoo and rubbing alcohol is good for getting surface scum off.

Be careful storing it in a dark closed cabinet though. Cockroaches eat silicon. the big ones with the yellowish head that you see in the tropics.....

OK explain one thing to me. If neoprene discolors clear silicone then why do they sell neoprene mask strap covers? Better yet, why do we keep buying them?

Toothpaste and Charlie's defog recipe...excellent stuff guys! Thanks for the info.

Incidentally, I occasionally use toothpaste as antifog...

cheers,

hmmm,
i use black skirts, but while in negril i saw the DM's there scrubing those skirts.
they had taken all the lens out and were soaking them in a clorox solutionand rubbing with scotch brite. i asked why they told me it took all the yellow out of the skirts. i can say that it did work. seemed like a lot of trouble, better to just buy black skirts. i know i'am lazy. :crafty:
