How do you clean the inside of older "neglected" first stages. My son recently bought an older R109. I looked inside to find a green debris that would not remove using and soaking alternately with Formula 409 and Clean Green. Need your input.

Green may be ugly but it won't hurt as long as the dynamic o-rings are sealing OK and they are not being damaged (cut) by buildup on the sealing surfaces. A 5 minute bath in 50:50 vinegar and warm water will remove much of it. But if you just have to get rid of it, you may need to get an ultrasonic cleaner. I resisted getting one for years and my daughter finally gave me one. I couldn't believe how much dirt it removed. (BTW, I've also had good luck restoring ambient chamber sealing surfaces using very light metal polishes and rubbing with my finger.)

Try a 50/50 mix of whiter vinegar and water. Let it soad then brush it with an old toothbrush. Be sure to rinse and dry WELL before using it.
