Nate:What class should I take to be able to dive in a swimming pool(And possibly rivers and other areas) that would be easiest for me? I'm 13, if that helps, and I wear out easily.
All the info posted so far is good. I only have a few more things to add. My son is 13 years old too so I know a little bit about people yur age.
1) You will get a "Jr. OW" certificate. At you age you will be required to dive with an adult "buddy". Further, depending on your age (I forgot the exact cutoff, it's either 12 or 15) the
adult buddy must be either a certified parent or a dive professional, later past the cutoff age the adult bddy can be any certified adult. They don't recommend two 13 year old divers diving together. and no one will recommend the anyone ever dive solo although it is done.
My experiance is that kids your age can learn but not all of them. To successfully compleate Open Water training at age 13 you must
1) really, really want to do it and be able to keep after that goal.
2) be very comfortable in the water with mask/snorkle/fins in the same kind of water that you will be diving in. SO pick up the fins and likely a wetsuit and get in the water.
3) Be fairly good at school. The open water book is roughtly 200 pages and is maybe just above or right at the eight grade level.
