Clam?

So a friend asked me what this is (she thought maybe it was a jagged rift in the bottom of the ocean and I realized I don't know. Is this a clam?

Seen in the South Pacific, 1-2 feet long.

Looks like Hyotissa hyotis, sometimes called the Honeycomb Oyster or Coxcomb Oyster. Have a look at Hyotissa hyotis, honeycomb oyster : fisheries. See what you think.

There is also a similar one Lopha cristagalla. Human and Deloach's book say it is usually encrusted with sponge.
