Well I can't believe that it is that time of the year again! I hope everyone had a great year with some memorable dives. Once again Inland Water Divers LLC is happy to announce that the Christmas Tree Reef Project will be continuing at Lake Pleasant. This will be the third year that we have headed up this worthwhile project to improve the diving and environmental conditions at the lake. Hang on to your Christmas tree that you have enjoyed during the holiday season and bring to the lake so that others can enjoy it for the rest of the year. The tentative date for the project is Saturday January 22nd. More details to follow.

Did you do the Chrstmas Tree Reef this year?

Can you share some details on what is done and why? This sounds like something good to be done at our local quarry but in order to gain interest I could use some more info including why it is done.

The event went well this year with just shy of 20 divers putting down 11 trees. The weather was outstanding and with the slightly better visibility in the water we should have the 2011 project on You Tube shortly. For those interested the 2010 sinking is posted on You Tube.

The reason for the event is to improve the fish habitat which improves our diving experience. We currently have in excess of 30 trees set in the lake and it is the one place in the lake that you can be sure to see at least some fish during your dive. We have been contacted by a group out of Vermont that is interested in starting a similar program for one of their lakes.

We do appreciate all of the divers from the IWD Dive Team that came out Saturday to help out during the event. With out their support the event would not have been possible! You guys and gals are great!
