I have a unique opportunity to go to the Kiribati's...in particular Christmas Island. Good friend of mine has a contract with the British Military to clean up the bombing impact area on Christmas and will be there for the next 3 months .... Anyone been there diving? Fishing? etc ... We have access to a float plane, various sized skiff's and safe air. Will bring my gear with me but is the diving worth the trip? I live in SoCal and would just as soon head to Cabo or La Paz etc ... but if the Tarawa chain is that good I'll go there instead.

Any sugeestions or insights on the diving and fishing???

Hey there!
I am actually one of the dive shop operators in Christmas and am wondering who your friend is at SEC? The diving down here is out of this world and I would definately choose Christmas over your Mexico options! Nothing like diving the South Pacific!!! I got a website you can check out if you are still interested in comming down here. I also have some former clients and friends in the states who I would be more than glad to put you in touch with if you would like to talk to someone who is non-biased and has dived in Christmas Island. Trust me, you should take advantage of the opportunity while it is still available. Oh, by the way... Chris has taken his airplane back to Hawaii so the airplane is no longer available, and the SEC always charter a boat from us or Kim Andersen when they go out fishing or diving since they need a guide and don't actually own a good dive boat of their own (Bruce's boat is kind of small).
Send me a private email,
