And they have to be Christian????
Being a Christian myself, IMO, its nice to have people to worship with on a sunday, other than that its a bit of a free for all. I just hit a local congregation when i can on my travels, but i will dive with pretty much anyone who is safe ;)

Sorry to say we won't be down there with you, but you've picked the right dive op. Martin is a Christian and does good charity work there on the island and on his home island of Cuba as well.
If your looking for a church while your there, there is a new start up non-denominaitonal church in town. it's kind of hard to find as it is currently in a store front off of what i think is 11th ave? it's the street that runs perpendicular to the ocean just as your are coming into town from the south where the first stop light is, there is a disco on the corner.
go up just a couple of blocks and there is a building painted yellow and green, it's on the first level of the store front.
we were there in Sept. and the pastor Chris is a great guy and a wonderful teacher he did a lesson on 1st JOHN and did a great job, and that's not an easy read!
for better directions stop in at Rock 'n' Java, (great place to eat also), the owner goes to the church and she can direct you to it a little better, she is located just past that same stop light on the main road into town on the left.
have a safe and blessed trip,
marc

Wing_nut:
Hey Folks, My wife and I will be Coz from the 2nd to the 8th and are wondering if there will be any other christians who will be diving? We are staying at the Park Royal and Diving with "Dive With Martin".

'Wing nut' is my husband (yes, the name fits :)
We're actually going to be there from Jan 2-9.
We were just looking to see who else is going to be hanging around Coz the same time as us!
It's always fun to get to know other divers who have similar interests.

Starfish,
No, we aren't looking to only meet Christians. We just aren't the 'partying' type, and it's nice to meet others that have the same mindset as us. We had great people to dive with last year, and you're right, we're also willing to dive with anyone as long as they are safe & level headed.

Thanks for the info, Sharky!
Do you have any idea if they have a Sunday night service? We don't arrive in Coz until after 9:30 am Sunday morning, and we fly out the following Sunday morning. We were looking forward to checking out a local church, but will only be able to if they have a night service.

Last year was really cool -- as we were taking the cab to our resort (after arriving at noon on Sunday), we saw a local congregation holding a baptism at the side of the road.

Wish we had such nice warm water for our baptisms up here in Canada !!!

Hey Simon,
What is "IMO" ?
IMO = in my opinion, short hand. There are others frequently used, look here for more that are used on SB (scuba board).

Hope you find some people to have fellowship with down in Coz ;)
