I don't think there's anything about Wicked's DM programme that wouldn't be "the correct way." It's just that it's a lot of money and a big decision, so feeling pressured to make the decision and send the money is leaving the OP feeling uncomfortable enough that he came here to ask.
Wicked is no better nor worse than other schools offering the DM programme at Khao Lak. Mostly it comes down to a synergy with the instructor, and that's very hard to judge from half a world away and with nothing else to compare it to.
It's simply my opinion and advice that if a person isn't entirely convinced that the choice is the right one, the person should wait until that certainty is there. It could be that Wicked is perfect for the OP, or it could be that there's an alternative that meets his needs a little better!
(As for Trip Advisor--take everything you see there with a very large grain of salt. Fraudulent reviews are not uncommon--both positive ones and negative ones. TA has lost court cases in relation to fraudulent reviews.)
