There is such a wide choice of digital cameras both waterproof and terrestrial for enclosing in a case that without a bit of "feed-back" from current users choosing a new combination comes down to a rather expensive "suck it and see [sea]" process.
I happened to be using a Canon SX110IS which I enclosed in an antique Ikelite SLR housing housing.Now it works well enough, but video results are better than stills.
I'll enclose 2 clips, but maybe some users could suggest other makes/case combinations.

Canon T2I is a superb camera both underwater and above. Many lens combinations to pick from.Takes 18 mp stills and shoots 1080p HD video. There are several housings available for this camera.
