The Cherokee County Ga Dive Team is now
accepting applications for volunteer positions as Public
Safety Divers (PSD). The Dive Team is comprised
completely of volunteers.

Prospective Applicants must be able to swim 500
yards any stroke in under 20 minutes, tread water for 15
minutes, swim underwater a length of 50 feet on one
breath without a push off, and recover a 10 pound weight
from a depth of 12 feet.

Previous scuba experience is a plus but not
required. The right personnel will be trained. Prior to
being utilized as a PSD on actual calls, Probationary
Divers must attend training at the Georgia Public Safety
Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth Ga. There are two
one week long programs that must be completed.

Team training is conducted two times a month and
members are expected to make 60% or training quarterly
in order to remain in an active status.

Volunteer applications may be picked up either at
the shop (directions through this link) or Cherokee County Fire Station 20 which is just
north of Towne Lake Parkway on Bells Ferry Road. Leo is the P.O.C. for any you may have about the team and you may e-mail through ljschrader@cherokeega.com. You may also e-mail ScubaAtlanta@yahoo.com or call the shop (678-494-3394) for more info.

Happy diving, Leo.
