Whatever it is it was probably banned in the states decades ago but it certainly gets the job done. I wouldn't be too concerned by it as you'll only be there for a limited time if you intend to stay at an AI. In town I've often seen the fogging truck drive up the roads laying out that thick fog that drifts into and through everything. I've even seen some locals intentionally open their doors when it goes by to let that fog in! I guess they are more concerned about the immediate serious diseases mosquitoes can present than the long term effects of exposure to pesticides. If I lived there I'd probably do the same. I'd rather take my chances with intermittent pesticide exposure than end up with a serious problem thanks to a bite from a mosquito carrying something very dangerous.

I'm at the Iberostar right now. Been here since Saturday. They have been fogging the entire place at least twice a day. I think I counted three times one day.

I was at Wet Wendy's a while back and late one night a fogging truck went down the street. All the guys at the bar just covered their drinks with their hands for a few minutes. I grew up in South Texas and it was very common to have the fogging trailers pulled down the alleys.

When I was a kid, we used to run in, around, and through it playing cops and robbers when the truck drove through our neighborhood.

SMH.

Maybe Pyrethrin? That smells pretty unique and hangs like fog. I've not seen fogging in cozumel so I don't really know.
That or Naled.

I remember the days of my youth when we'd play behind the foggers spraying DDT

Mmmm. DDT. Used to spray it in liquid form on the open cab tractor. We used to spray thistle with round up from the backs of horses. Might as well have bathed in it. If diluted was good, full strength must be better. I expect that's why round-up is no longer sold in it's chemically "pure" form.
