Howdy folks, kind of in an odd situation. I have about 25 dives in warm water and 2 in NE all with rented gear.

I have been getting my setup put in place part by part and building a Hog setup.

I have to be out of town for the next few weeks returning Sept 14th and have a dive scheduled Sept 18th (bad timing on the out of town part)

So here is the thing. Not only am I a newbie but have all new gear. I would really like to do a checkout dive with someone who is familiar with this setup. It can be in a pool or ocean but I would like to have someone there to coach me a bit on the setup and give me the little tips I know I will need.

I really would prefer to have a some experience with my gear before splashing in on the 18th.

With work and travel about all I can do is Sept 15.

If anyone is interested I would be grateful for the assistance and cover the bar/restaraunt tab and fills if this works for anyone. Really happy to cover whatever is needed if that is a factor.

I will even let you bring a video camera so you can "make fun of the uber-stroke " in you next dive club meeting :D.

Thanks !
Rob

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "hog" set-up?

Rob, I can't make it that day - I'm pretty busy with school. But, I'll be glad to get in the water with you some time this fall and, if you go dry, this winter. And you don't even have to bribe with dinner. In the meantime, if any dates open in the next week (except weds.) let me know.

Honestly, the # one thing is to get yourself weighted right asap. A while ago while my DS was the shelf I was diving wet with a rig like yours (SS bp, FT heavy STA, single hp100) and with 7mm wetsuit I had no other weight. Please, I don't want to read any junk on here about your wearing 25or 30lbs of lead - don't be that guy.

Have fun, dive safe and tuck that long hose in your waist harness.

Thank you. I am now enlightened as what a "hog" is.

Soggy if a night dive is OK with you that is great with me. night or light is fine i am jsut itching to get in the water and establish a baseline from which to progress.

I am diving with lobstaman on the 18th dive and now that i pretended i knew dive slang and mentioned a "hog" setup i reckon i should at least know how use my own setup :)

Rob, you should check these guys out. They will even give you FREE air!

I agree that they're worth checking out, but they probably aren't the best place to seek advice about a hogarthian setup.
South Shore Divers would be a better bet, as the owner has a hogarthian rig himself (when he isn't diving his rebreather).
