I'm sure everyone has seen the reports of peoples checkcard numbers being stolen. Well the this type of fraud/theft has not stopped, I'm sorry to say. I personally have had over $1600 worth of charges ran against my checking account of this past weekend. I don't yet know where the charges were made as they haven't hard posted to my account yet. So now I am in the process of filing all of the necessay paperwork to make sure I'm not held liable for any of the unauthorized charges.:upset:

The bank officials as well as the local authorities have informed me that this type of fraud generally takes place on the weekends.

So beware and check your accounts often, hopefully it won't happen to you.

I don't know if the banks are the same in the US as they are in Canada but the bank should shut down the account and open a new one for you and because the authorities are involved their insurance should cover it. Granted it has been years since I worked for the bank.
