I rented a regulator set from my LDS yesterday while mine was in the shop. I got out to the lake after work with some of my buddies and began to gear up. I tightened my 1st stage to the valve and noticed under the hose protector there was a rip that went all most half way across the hose. ALWAYS check your gear before you take it out to your car to make sure your LDS didnt miss something that is messed up!!!!!! We ended up having an awesome dive anyways but always remember to double check your gear!!

I've seen divers get to the dive sit only to start to complain that "The dive shop didn't give me everything / what I needed".

If you are going to rent your gear, I'd suggest a checklist you go through at the shop which would of course include checking the gear :)

That is correct sir! I once rented a set-up in a LDS that had changed the brand of second air/ inflator they used. They gave me the old low pressure hose and connector with the new inflator. What fun to orally inflate your bc all day.

Renter beware.

I've seen gear at shops that was in definite need of attention. LDS take notice...when someone asks...when was that last serviced? the correct answer is NOT ... I dunno. Inteligent people will walk away slowly....or run.
