Cheaper Spears

Has anyone made their own spears or had a local metal fabricator make them? I wonder if the price could be halved or less compared to ebay. I want to make 9/32 or 5/16 x 5 ft for Hawaiian sling.

Anodized aluminum is going to be your best bet for anti-corrosion and weight. Any kind of steel (unless high end nickel alloy) is going to rust when exposed to sea water.

It sounds as if this individual has very little first hand experience in slinging... Hawaiian shafts aren't that expensive..
