My wife doesn't dive, so I take trips alone.
I'd like to do six warm-water trips per year, at about $2,000 each.
My challenge has been to find trips where I don't have to pay a single supplement and where it's easy to find a buddy.
I've been going on two trips per year with my LDS (Coz and Roatan), which works out great. I've also gone on a couple liveaboard trips (Nekton), which also worked out great. (Nekton was a lower cost trip....and they often offered promotions that were under $2,000, even with airfare.) Now, Nekton's gone and it looks like other liveaboards will push me above the $2,000 mark, once I add in airfare. (I fly out of Baltimore or DC airports.)
I love places like Scuba Club Cozumel and CoCoView, but I've only been there with my lds group. My guess is that it would be hard to just show up there and need to find a buddy....for a whole week. (Not to mention the single supplement issue.)
So, any suggestions where to go where it's easy to find a buddy....and where I can dive for a week for $2,000 (incl. meals, airfare, diving, etc.)?
(By the way, I've looked at the SingleDivers.com website. My impression is that they're relatively young and love to party. I'm 61, and don't.)
