Hi, I'm looking to take a scuba diving vacation with my friend in two weeks. We're novice divers (2 dives each), and are looking for a cheap scuba resort in the Caribbean, or on the southern-east coast (we are in NY). Any help or reccomendations where to look would be very much appreciated. Thanks! :D

Florida Keys might be cheapest. Bahamas can be pretty inexpensive flights, but I'm not sure what the diving costs there. Cozumel might be an option if you can find a good deal...a lot of places were offering cheap deals a month or two ago.

Have fun! :D

The Keys Fly to Ft. Lauderdale $200, Rent cheap car drive to keys, Hotels are about $100 a night, 5 - 2 tanks trips about $200. PM if you want details we just did this trip.

West Palm Beach, Florida
South a bit BoyntonBeach area,
some Great reefs, with a car rental you then can head down one day and dive the Keys like out of Keylargo, great trip if you go early!

Welcome to the board.
It's pretty short notice to find a Caribbean spot. I know a couple of fairly inexpensive places on Bonaire but getting there can is usually pretty expensive.
I would think your best bet is the Keys. We stayed here last weekend. http://www.tropicvistadiveresort.com/ It's a very basic motel, small rooms and a bit old but very convient, reasonably priced with a great dive boat and crew on site. A 50 ft walk to a good restaurant and 50 ft back to the boat.

I just checked, Continental is offering a RT flight from Newark to Curacao for around $425.00, then a short Divi flight (15 minutes) is $100 RT, so this makes about the cheapest airfare I've seen to Bonaire in a LONG time!

Thanks a lot everyone!! Lots of options here, and I'm sure one of them will work. I really appreciate it!!

Checked Travelocity for flights out of Newark.

United has RT fare for $364 per person.

Stuart Cove has packages at several hotels...

Here's one... http://www.dive-bahamas.com/pdf/2006/2006-OH-pool-1-con.pdf

I stayed at the Orange Hill Inn last year & had a great time. Nothing fancy but nice people. Haven't been diving with Stuart Cove couldn't tell you about them. Operator I went with last year retired & shut down.
