I'm originally from Charlotte, currently living and working in Hollywood, FL, and in the process of moving back to NC. (I should be back there by the end of September.) I've really enjoyed being involved with our Scubaboard club, the Florida Conch Divers, while I've been here, and was wondering how many people here live within driving distance to Charlotte.

I'll be looking for a few good buddies to dive locally, with some weekend trips to Moorehead City, Charleston (Cooper River), the Florida Springs, and the South Florida beaches.

As for a brief bit of info. I'm PADI rescue (DM Candidate), Nitrox, with just a little over 100 dives in my log. I'm a member of the Charlotte Hammerheads and plan to re-join PDRA when I get on the ground up there. I have only dived quarries and lakes in NC.

Hi Grier - I think we met on a Coastal Scuba boat last summer; who can forget a name like Grier. To jog your memory, I'm a tall guy with a beard and we spent the surface interval at Barracuda Alley talking about science, the pharmaceutical industry, and Morehead City.

In any case - I live a long ways from Charlotte, but I seem to make it to Morehead City, Wilmington, and Myrtle Beach a few times each year for diving. Drop me a line when you get back to the northland.

Rich

Check out Open Water Adventures located just south of the speedway. I know there are a few people from Charlotte around here.

Welcome back to the state Grier. Don't forget about Wilmington. I may can meet you there on occasion. I went a couple of weeks ago and had the "buddys from hell" (....well almost) experience. Never again without a known Buddy.

as others state there are plenty of us in NC all though at this moment I am in Fla for another week or so !!!!

Hi Folks!

Rich - I sure do remember talking on the Coastal Scuba boat. Small world, isn't it? I'll be sure to PM you when I finally get on the ground in Charlotte, which should be around the end of September.

And Stevtt, I know Joe Gaydeski, the owner of Open Water Adventures pretty well - he gives talks now and again to our local dive club, the Charlotte Hammerheads.

Herman, I'm planning to get down to the Wilmington/Moorehead City part of the state pretty soon after getting back, but it may be a little late for this dive season. Still, it's nice to have a couple of friends to plan upcoming dives with.

And finally, Medic - Where in Florida are you? Several groups are diving near here over the weekend - are you with one of them? It would be nice to meet face-to-face and possible do a dive or two.

Anyway, I'll be in touch a bit more when I see how the final relocation plan turns out.

Safe ascents,
Grier

Hey GrierHPharmD,
I guess I am now a diver in the approximate Charlotte area!!!! I will miss Florida, but am looking forward to tryingout some NC dives- although the thought of a long boat ride and big waves does not appeal.

Maybe we can hook up for some diving sometime
