Charging lithium-ion batteries: how far in advance?

Best voltage to store them is about 3.92V. Avoid charging them above 3.95V or discharging below 3.6V unless you have to.
 
They will HOLD a charge for months
Storing them over about 4V per cell will shorten their life.

A few days in advance is no big deal.

The storage suggestions aren't bad, but the reconditioning section is bad info. You can't recondition lithium based batteries. Their battery life loss is a chemical process. That reconditioning process is for NiMH batteries which did have a memory effect and reconditioning would allow you to get most of the remaining battery life left.

Note how that list is different from Sea Tech's process which is verbatim from the classic how to fix memory problems on NiMH battery.

The first suggestion is a rescue charge, which is different. That is how to fix a complete discharge of the battery. You use a charger capable of doing a rescue charge, trickling in a lower voltage until it finally gets to the voltage that the normal charger kicks in. Many third party battery chargers have that function built in.

The second is freezing it, there is some evidence that works, and there is some evidence that it doesn't work. I've tried it, and it didn't do anything.
