Not strictly an Olympus / OMDS question, but I guess there are more AOI housings here than elsewhere.

My new (as of 6 months or so) AOI UHM-1-II is my first housing with a rechargeable battery. Do I need to think about charging it every few months like a dive computer or am I overthinking things like usual?

I charge it before a trip and every 3-4 days while diving. I think it is likely good for 10 dives or more but I don't push it.

I do not have this housing but I have many things that use NiMh and Lithium Ion batteries. IMO, unless the OM says different, the batteries should be charged and exercised every few months during storage. Lithium Ion batteries do not generally like being stored at full or discharged states. They will self discharge and may not recharge if allowed to fully discharge.

They claim 4 days of running 3 x 1-hour dives (I can get a bit more). And

If you don’t use the housing, please remember to fully charge the battery in the

Multi-control Device for every half year.

Since we dive more often than that this has never been an issue.

Ah, the "half a year" was the information I was looking for, thanks. I tend to dive in bursts, all of my diving for the year happening withing 3 or 4 months is not unusual.
