On a trip last week in Anilao the charger for my Sola 600 died on me. Wasn't a complete disaster as other divers had chargers which they let me borrow.

I live in the UAE, but had a friend pick my SOLA up for me in the US as I have never seen them on sale in Dubai. I sent a ticket to L&M customer support who directed me to two supposed dealers in the UAE, both are useless and were no help at all. So now I have a rather expensive paperweight on my desk with no means of charging it. Any ideas how I can get my hands on a new charger as "dealers" in the UAE are next to useless.

cheers

Hello Stewart,
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "useless and no help at all?" This doesn't give us much to go on as to what kind of response you received or how we can solve the issue with this dealer in the future--which we would like to do! I'd send you to other dealers in-country, but at the moment, we have only the two in UAE.

In the meantime, nearly any of our authorized dealers will stock chargers that you can purchase; I don't know what country to direct you to because I don't know where it's easiest for you to receive shipments from. If you can work with a dealer in Bahrain, Scubamaster is a good dealer there. If you prefer to work with US dealers, Backscatter and Reef Photo both ship internationally. Or if any of these areas are easier, you can contact the distributors shown for contact info of dealers to work with.

Benzonar -

Can I ask how old the charger was? I took out a brand new Sola 1200 to SE Asia, and the charger stopped working on the 3rd day. At that point, I had used it only four times.

Like you, not a complete disaster as I borrowed another divers. I have a Sola 800 and while the charger is the same connection, the block was redesigned on the 1200.

Ok I have made some headway with one of the dealers now, and hopefully I can get something resolved shortly.

Thiad, the charger was 18 months old.

Hi Benzonar,
You should be hearing from one of the UAE dealers shortly with a resolution to your situation; the territory sales manager has gotten involved and spoken with this dealer to get you some help closer to home. Sorry for the trouble, and hope they can get you all taken care of now.

I recently bought a Sola 1200 and 800. I traded my Hartenberger for one of them. I have to tell you that I am worried about the fact that every time I turn around there seems to be huge issues with the charger/ them not charging/ overall not working threads I read all the time here. I hope I haven't picked up a high maintenance piece of equipment that I will have owned 8 months before I even get a chance to use them for the first time.
