Dear friends:

What do you do when you are done diving with your first dive using doubles and want to make a second one?
Is your second double set up has plate and wing already or do you take the wing off the first one and put on second plate? If the latter, then I would be quite interested in knowing type of threaded rod and nut you use to "quickly" undo your set.

Thank you

Depends on the dive and how much gas is left in the doubles.

I'm not a big fan of swapping wings around. Each wing gets its plate and set up. For singles, I use Zeagle's Xpress Tech harness. As easy as it comes.

That's good to know. Thank you.

Switching takes maybe <1 minute with delrin nuts..........or less time than it takes to to switch the regulators. Are you not having a surface interval between dives?

Well first I think there might be differing views on how to proceed.
In my case, I need to change/add some nuts and wingnuts so the plate does not move when undoing to remove wing. Currently I have a threaded bolt in the wing; to take the wing off, I need to pull the whole bolt out. I need to change to a threaded rod.

What bolt are you pulling out of what? Sounds scary if you're saying what I think you're saying.

Depending on the rig, you would have to pull bolts out to change your wing. There's no other way to remove the doubles.

I have never done or heard of this. Sounds crazy. Did you mean "nuts" instead of bolts?

Maybe I don't understand the OP, but I have never heard of or seen anyone bring two sets of doubles, each with their own backplate and wing, to avoid a swap. The BP/W wing nuts are just removed and the plate and wing is switched to the next set (along with the regs), no special hardware other than the bolts and nuts that every set of doubles has. I'm not sure I understand what compressor and Pete are referring to, in terms of removing a bolt to change the wing. Maybe I'm not familiar with that configuration.

Also, if you are using enough of your doubles so that you need a second set for your second dive, you may well have done at least some deco. That means that even if you decide to do a second deco dive on that boat trip (a controversy in itself), you have plenty of time to swap plates along with your regulators.
