I was at Cat about three weeks ago to discover some of the large ledge/boulders had moved. Does anyone know when this happened? Myself and three other divers looked around carefully to make sure we were not hallucinating....I kid you not - the path I have used since I started diving is no longer there. I was curious if anyone knew when this happened.

Interesting...

Cath is site anxious to try this time of year. Supposedly, vis is supposed to be much better but you have to dive it the rare instances this time of year where you have a few days of calm waters.

Definately not a site to try when rocks on way down are snow covered!

Yeah we skip Cat if the rocks are covered in snow or ice. Way too easy to slip and fall long and hard. I could not believe how this giant piece of ledge had been moved. The entry to Cat is much more difficult as a result. You can still get down fully suited but this is one step that is pretty far. At minimum you would need to sit on your rear end then extend your feet. Coming back you would need crazy squat lifting power to step up waist high.

It would probably make most sense to carry gear down/back in two trips. I prefer to be fully suited before I walk down but it would be tough at minimum and dangerous at most to do it.

This is my favorite shore dive site. Best bang for your buck in terms of topography and depth.

Hire CAD to take you on a boat.

Too much work to dive Cat from shore. I am not a mt-goat.

Nah...gear up at the top, walk down, get in, dive, come back, walk out, climb the hill, doff gear at the car. It's not fun, but it certainly isn't worth $60 plus tip to get brought to a dive site that I can drive to myself.
