The operation of unautomated chambers is really pretty simple. Diagnosis and treatment is where most of the skill is required. Is there any interest in a thread on basic chamber systems and operation? A thread like that would probably be better suited in the Advanced Diving or even Commercial Diving Forum.

I would read it! :)

DAN also has lectures there. Just got a notice for one today. Would love to attend one but have never had the opportunity...

We invite you to join us for the DAN Diving Medicine/Research/Safety Public Lecture Series. Dr. Petar Denoble will present "Pre-hospital Management of Diving Injuries" at DAN headquarters in Durham, North Carolina on Wednesday, October 4, at 7 p.m.

"Pre-hospital Management of Diving Injuries"

Diving may result in injury requiring hospital level medical care of various urgency and complexity which may not be immediately available. Thus, it is very important that an injured diver receives proper care from EMS. We will present the issues involved with pre-hospital management of diving injuries and the most recent recommendations by an independent Advisory Committee convened by DAN. For divers it is important to consider the available treatment opportunities in areas where they dive, and to adjust accordingly their diving behaviors and their emergency action plans.

Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. for a pre-event social with refreshments. The 45-minute presentation begins at 7 p.m. and is followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session. This event is free and no registration is required.

We hope you will be able to join us for this special event. For more information, please email research@dan.org, or call 919-684-2948 ext. 1260.

For clarity, DAN's headquarters is not at Duke, it's in a building that's about 10 minutes from Duke's campus. They don't have chambers there if that's what you're looking for, but they do give an excellent talk and there's usually a good discussion after.

Best regards,
DDM

Oops. Good point. Durham not Duke.
