Position Description
Performs safe operations of three vessels, multi-place hyperbaric chamber system for both clinical and research objectives. Participates as a hyperbaric chamber operator. Records all events related to hyperbaric/compressed air exposures/oxygen therapy. Functions as an integral member of the Hyperbaric Therapy Team. Communicates effectively with Physicians, Nurses, Hyperbaric Technicians, and patients. Performs routine operations and maintenance of life support equipment. Participates in weekend, evenings, and on-call schedule as needed. Required to provide services based on unique chronological issues and needs for all life spans. Required to handle highly confidential material.
Responsible for preparing the inside of the hyperbaric chamber prior to each session. Assists patients with entering and exiting the chamber. Monitors the patients' vital signs/condition and documents accordingly. Tends to patients' needs prior to, during, and after hyperbaric therapy, and takes appropriate actions as needed. Cleans and stores patient breathing equipment. Maintains hyperbaric chamber baseline readiness after each session. Assists in inventory of medical supplies and equipment, reorders when necessary. Handles quality assurance forms for emergency and elective patients as part of air quality assurance program. Employee must, on a regular basis, provide age-appropriate care based on unique chronological issues of individual patients. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Responsible and dedicated individual able to work unusual hours. Minimum 3 years experience as a licensed Paramedic or EMT (with additional Diver Medical Technician certification) in the state of PA. Current BCLS certification required, ACLS/PALS recommended, CHT desired. Previous experience with multiplace hyperbaric chamber operations preferred. Knowledge of hyperbaric chamber operations standards, NFPA, PVHO-1, UHMS desired. Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of compressors, pneumatic valves, piping systems, control systems, and filtration packages preferred.
