Chamber Day
Contributor
Chamber Day/Eve 2021 is two weeks from today. Overall we’re in fairly good shape but could certainly use help in beefing up a couple of areas.
This is a more critical year than usual because not all that much changed for us during the pandemic these past 12 months. We still had crews on standby 24/7/365 and that meant we were still doing training runs, housing volunteer staff, and doing all the other things we’d do during a “normal” year. So our expenses for the past year remained pretty much the same.
But, since the USC Wrigley Campus has been closed to no-staff, it also meant that we couldn’t teach classes this past year. We couldn’t conduct training sessions for public service agencies that we work with. We couldn’t host any conferences. Although not a huge part of our budget, these all represent income that was lost to us, so we’ve got to make that up as well.
Chamber Day usually represents about 50% of the funding we need to run for the coming year. And with some of the income shortfalls, that percentage may realistically be a little higher. So every dollar you donate is needed and WILL be put to good use.
