The Chamber Day tile murals from this year are near and dear to our heart.
And we're a little surprised we haven't had more of you commit to getting one.
Our concern is that this may be partly due to the price (which we freely admit
is not cheap)..
Because we did so well with the overall fund-raising we're DROPPING THE PRICE
on the very cool tile murals. Instead of $575, you can now get either the tile
border version or the full poster version (with tile in the middle) for just
$495. We realize that's still not "cheap" but our cost on each one approaches
$400 plus we have to amortize mold and setup fees required to get the project
started.
They're designed for us by Matt Doolin at Topanga Art Tile and they really
are a work of art. Each tile mural is hand-crafted and hand-colored, then fired
and assembled by hand. A lot of work goes into each one.
Since the actual garibaldi/divers/kelp is the only part rendered in tile, you
can choose to have them finished in one of two ways. Either just the tile
portion surrounded by a blue tile border (really looks nice) or the complete
poster version with tile in the middle, all text rendered on museum-quality
velum paper surrounding it and then framed. Either one will look great on your
wall and either one is now just $495.
Those of you (only a few quite frankly) who already purchase the tiles will
only be charged the reduced price. For anyone else interested, we've decided
that we can leave tile orders through the website open for two more weeks, until
the Memorial Day Weekend. But we'll close it after that and give the orders to
our tile guy.
So if you were thinking about the tiles but just a little hesitant, hopefully
the price reduction will help spur you on. If you need to remind yourself what
they look like, just go here: Chamber Day Tiles > Chamber Day > USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences .
