We are soooooo close to cracking $15,000. Who will shoot us past that mark?

I’m on Easter Island doing some diving and land touring of the moai (statues). And yes, I keep an eye on all things Chamber Day while I’m away.

And here’s an interesting factoid for you: If you were down here diving with me and got bent, do you know where the nearest chamber is? Try Santiago, Chile. That’s over 2,300 miles away which is a 4.5 hour airplane ride. And if we had to air evac you, assuming we could find such a plane, forget however long it takes to set up the flight, it would be 4.5 hours to get the plane here, some time to load you up, 4.5 hour to get back to Santiago, and then however much time it would take them to get you to chamber facilities. So you’re looking at a MINIMUM of 12 hours from the time your symptoms appear until you can start treatment. On the other hand . . .

In Southern California, our Chamber is available 24/7/365. Depending on where you are diving, we can get you in the Chamber and get treatment started quickly, and sometimes even in less than an hour? Think that makes a difference in the resolution of your symptoms? You bet it does. Think that’s worth supporting financially? You bet it is.

And that’s why we come to you annually and ask for your help. Not all places in the world are as fortunate as we are in terms of Chamber access and availability. And your donations – whether that’s to be on a boat, join us for Chamber Eve, or donate to the Challenge – make a huge difference.

This go-round, we start with a trio of $500 Silver donors. First up is Catalina Sea Camp & the Catalina Island marine Institute. With all the work they do around Catalina, they understand the value of our Chamber. They’re followed by Patricia Wetzel, again making a donation in memory of her brother Tom Wetzel, a ,longtime fixture in the SoCal diving community and a longtime e member of our Chamber Day Steering Committee. Finally, we have a donation from Mike Peterson, a volunteer at our Chamber, in honor of all the volunteer Chamber Crew members.

So how about you? What’s your motivation to donate? Everything helps and while we started strong, we seem to have hit a plateau and need to rebuild the momentum. Let’s add YOUR name to our list.

Who’s next??? Here’s the direct link to the donation page: https://usc.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_88ko1OUej3lAYbI
