Sooooooo close to passing $13,000 . . .
We start off this update with a big leap forward which comes in the form of a very generous $5,000 donation from Beach Cities Scuba. They’re a longtime (and large) contributor to Chamber Day and they are willing to give back to the industry that supports them. (One of their key employees, DJ Mansfield, also is a member of our steering committee.) They’re one of many stores and clubs who contribute to keep our Chamber going and financially strong. Not everyone can donate $5K, but every donation helps.
We also have an in-memory donation at the $500 level this go-round and that’s in honor of Rod “Nasty” Francis (who was anything BUT nasty) who passed a few weeks ago after some on-going health battles. This one has a personal side for me because Rod taught for me for a number of years and was a close friend. But his family, all of who dive, wants to emphasize in this donation the commitment Rod always had to supporting our Chamber. As his daughter Kim said, he never had to go visit, but he always knew how important our Chamber was.
So we’re perking along. But we’ve got a ways to go. And while it seems that there’s plenty of time to get there, time flies faster than we think. So please don’t delay. We can’t do it without YOU.
