CHAMBER CHALLENGE 2011 - UPDATE #8 - $40,643 (posted 4/13 - last updated 4/11)

My oh my . . .

We just zoomed past $40,000!!!!!

This is all due to our longtime supporters down at the Ocean Institute (through one of their benefactors). They have not only again this year agreed to a generous $7,000 donation to the Challenge but will also be represented again at Chamber Evening by the two tables that they'll have, full of youngsters who are enthusiastic about our oceans. The Ocean Institute has become nationally known for its hands-on marine science, environmental and ocean education and maritime history programs. More than 110,000 K-12 students and 8,000 teachers annually participate in the Institute's 61 award-winning, immersion style programs. And we're delighted that they're joining us again this year.

We realize that you may not be able to write a $7,000 check (but we'd be happy to take it if you can) but the point is that the Challenge works because whatever you can give goes to help our Chamber. And because these are unrestricted funds, the monies raised through the Challenge can be put to use in whatever area of Chamber operations that needs it the most.

So who's next??? Who will make a $100, $500, or even $1000 donation and keep us on our path to our final total?
