What is this creature? They are found on CA kelp and sometimes on lingcods.

Aha, nice picture. I *think* that's a marine isopod, vaguely cousin to the garden pillbug. They're harmless.

Thanks, Archman. A google search of marine isopod images brought up many pics that looked exactly like mine. I appreciate knowing what I photographed.

You think my picture is nice? I couldn't take one underwater; too much surge to be able to focus on something so small. I had to ask a person I had barely met if I could get really close to him and take the pic of one that was on his wetsuit after his dive. He probably thought I was pretty weird.
