You are right, I hate to let things go. I'll give you that. It bugs the crud out of me to be moderated for being "off topic" and then several posts later the whole thread has gone off topic anyways with moderators joining in. I mean, really? This is Scubaboard. Every thread goes off topic given enough time.

I'll also agree that being a supporting member only means you pay for the priv of being moderated / censored. I originally donated money to ScubaBoard because I wanted to help. Then I observed what I considered a disrespect for the user base. In today's social media age there are customers and their are users ( content ). Eventually the establishment wants to control the content to better attract the customers.

That's why I asked for a refund. And my reward for that was an admin attacking me and starting a dog piling session. One that you ultimately had to come by and stop.

I appreciate "likes" too. It's almost Pavlovian, and it's a little strange that we respond to a social credit in a virtual society.

But if you take an objective look at it, you will see that you collect the most "likes" when you are in a contentious discussion. They amount to support from your fellow partisans. So all "likes" are not created equal. Your "likes" may just be an indication that you like to argue. If you are collecting "likes" because you are bringing particular insight or eloquence to a discussion, then...well, then you are TS&M. Those are the ones you want.

They are worth about 1/10 of a non-Pub "like," since the Pub is basically dedicated to argument.

Taking an objective look at it, even BeaverDivers has liked some of my posts.....

Reading back through the last couple dozens likes, they almost all seem to be posts where I have helped someone.

It has been too long since we have had a good Cencorship thread :aaaahhhhhhhh:. Now I can relax again.

Cencorship has happened on ScubaBoard. But it is far from the norm. In fact, the only time I have seen true cencorship (other than the way most ScubaPro posts are handled) has been when a particular Moderator takes a personal interest in a certain member(s). I do not believe this has happened in a while. Other than that, the Moderators are people that may read something different into a post than what was intended thus causing what people may see as cencorship. Problematic? Could be but far from the worst thing you will find on the internet. Bottom line is, you are free to do as one of your previous threads said......you always have the right to leave and stop posting on the board. It seems you might have built a personal interest in flogging ScubaBoard based on your post/thread history. You are not the first to go through this cycle but let me tell you how it is going to end: SB will go on as it is and you will either a)go away, b)get banned for crossing the line too many times, OR c)simply accept that it is an imperfect system and continue to post with the new found knowledge.

I remember I had an issue with a member (non staff since you cannot ignore staffers) and finally used the ignore button for the first time ever. WHOA was that ever great. After about 3 weeks I took the person off ignore and was able to simply scroll past their posts without it getting me worked up. You should try the same. It really does improve the overall board experience for you (and others usually). As much fun as a good censorship thread may be, the personal agenda does eventually become obvious.

Trust me......this number means absolutely nothing. People LIKE posts for many reasons. I will often like a post when someone who is being idiotic stops posting.
