Cenote snorkel vs. dive for photography

I want to do a lot of photos of the cenotes entrance, exit, silhouette, light beam penetration. Does it make sense to do a dive or snorkel ?

You won't be able to capture the beauty of the light pouring down from the OW into the cavern zone unless you are underwater. If you are a very good free diver, and can spend a couple of minutes at 20+ feet to get some photos, you can do it snorkeling. Otherwise, you are FAR better off on scuba.

I'd hire a private guide and take my time taking pictures while the guides waits for me. check out Divers UnderGround | Technical and Recreational Scuba Diving Services and Training in the Riviera Maya they have several guides working for them and since they want to keep everyone busy they have no problem giving you a private guide for no extra charge.
