Had seen this on TA and thought I's pass it on.

Register your credit card with 'Verified by Visa' or the equivalent MasterCard program before using the Cebu Pacific site, so as to ensure that your card is accepted and not declined

Not worth following this to much further but my cards are registered and everytime I book with PAL, I dont have a problem and it takes me to the page requestiing the appropriate Password.. I have given up on Cebu Pacific, but do love them because they help keep PAL's prices low :)

Cheers

I have used my cards all over the Philippines and all over the internet as well without any issues. I do have an odd American address that does cause some confusion sometimes. I will try the verification process next time. Thanks for the info.

The only hotel in Cebu I stay at it is the Shangri-La.

Hahahahah. I would love to stay at the Shangri-La. Unfortunately I was vetoed by the Mrs. (Ya gotta love the thrift of filipinas) (And I mean you really got to love it, cause you have no other choice.)
After much diplomacy she let me book us at the Airport Hotel and Casino, which I booked online with Agoda and was able to use my Visa card with no problem.
As a sidenote Agoda was about ten percent cheaper than Asiarooms, which I used to always use.

That is interesting, I dont have a problem using my CC online with anyone else, only Cebu Pacific..I think it is a problem with their system, infact on a couple of instances when I was still committed to using Cebu Pacific before I made the switch to PAL I discussed the issue with some of their customer service folks and they indicated the same. But that was over a year ago....

Funny, I switched from PAL to Cebu Pac last year after the fiasco with their summer promotion. Gotta Love it when they advertise super cheap fares, then no-one (except a lucky few) can book because their website sucks so much.

I think the "verifed by Visa" thing is the key here. Once you register with them, you will have no issues.

I had no problem booking on line with Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines but when I tried booking with Air Philippines my card would not be processed. I called their customer service and was advised to ask a local to book for me, so I booked another airline.

A question to Philippine Airlines customers, can the Sports Fee be arranged at the airport? I`v done all I can on line, got the Mabuhay Miles membership, where can I pay the $30 for the Sports Fee?

The whole international credit/debit card thing with Cebu Pacific is a big problem, I had a lot of problems booking with my UAE Debit Card or Credit card, the UK HSBC Debit Card I had worked but then suddenly stopped while my UK Barclay Debit Card seemed to work (and I think still does work :)) fine.

The good news is all local PI credit cards and debit cards (usually!) work fine!

I've ended up flying with Philippine airlines a few times over Cebu Pacific because of this so I'm sure they've lost a hell of a lot of business over the last few years alone.

I did ask Cebu Pacific about this and got a very jumbled response but it seemed to be along the lines of some international banks will decline payments due to security issues at a later date. This only seems to happen with Cebu Pacific as Philippine Airlines, Zest/Asian Spirit and SEAir all seem to work fine, hence I'm assuming Cebu Pacific are still using an outdated processing system or cheaper processing centre.

It seems obvious the Cebu Pacific security/card approval scheme is now looking dated, but on the other hand if improving the whole card payment system will cost enough to put the flight prices up then I can see the point in not doing it (quite yet) - it's a case of balancing lost business due to increase flight prices vs lost business due to lower online bookings I guess!

Yea I had the same problem with my american credit card too on there website. I acutually called (international call) Pacific Air directly and the credit card worked fine then.
