** This is rumor mill-type stuff and should be treated as such.**
Here's what I have heard over the past 6 months or so:
-Fundamentals Tech Pass prerequisite
-Diluent: air, 32%, 30/30, or 21/35
-Zero (or extremely limited) failure training/scenarios - i.e., just bailout to OC
-Recreational profiles only - within MDL's, 100'/30m max depth
-For existing Tech 1 divers, an upgrade path to CCR 1 after certain factors have been achieved (whatever those may be)

Depending on your diving/GUE worldview, you'll either love or hate it. I'm leaning toward the latter because (and though not exhaustive) absent formal and compelling details, it's effectively an additional monetization of the current post-CCR1 25 experience dive requirement (25 dive recreational CCR1 dives before doing tech dives, that is).

Again, this is rumor mill-type stuff and should be treated as such.

To me, it sounds like the big change here is allowing people to skip T1 and move straight into CCR-F, no? Which, I don’t know that I necessarily agree with that entirely, but it seems like (in some parts of the world) any amount of open-circuit trimix is becoming logistically challenging.

I agree that I feel a little conflicted about the direction of these changes - particularly that it seems to be creating an acceptance/requirement for a lot of recreational CCR diving, which seems out of line with GUE’s general stance of ‘right tool for the job - but I understand the realities of being a functioning dive agency in the real modern world.

If this is true, GUE aligns more with the current practice of other agencies. IANTD for instance requires no tech certifications before starting with CCR. To me it sounds a logical step in development. Regarding the cost of Tech 1 diving, these days it makes more sense to skip OC tech and start on CCR right away.

Damn, I decided to sign for a Tech1 early next year...Now I am very tempted to go directly into CCR even if I have di tecdiving experience. The thing is that Helium is so expensive now that Tec1 diving would be just a window in my diving future....

Open circuit tech 1, I still think, makes sense to do even if you're going CCR.

Sounds good. I'd like to get into a CCR but my crazy schedule right now with work and family commitments makes it tough to go off and spend a week taking a GUE CCR1 course. Something shorter would be very attractive, if I could upgrade it to the full CCR1 level later without starting over.

Yeah, I **may** end up feeling the same after the formal details are released. But then again, at least in current state, I am an edge case GUE diver because I've got T2 scheduled for next summer - 🤷.
