Been here a little while, mainly just lurking and reading...
Just returned from a week at Grand Cayman on Saturday (8/6). Fantastic trip! Water is great, but a little less clear than last year (maybe due to the rain?). Vis still over 100', though, and 86 degrees even down to 100. Wife and I logged 15 dives each with a total of 600 min of bottom time each for the week. Saw lots of great fish, couple of nurse sharks, stingrays, spotted eagle ray, eels, big tarpon. Did Eden Rock and Devil's Grotto for the first time, along with Sunset House reef (saw a BIG turtle there), and Turtle Reef by Cracked Conch/Macabuca/Sun Divers. Also did boat dives with Red Sail - those guys run a very good operation in my experience. Three days with RS off the west side, and a couple days to the North Wall. Dropped a couple of lbs of lead during the course of the week, and my gas usage was getting A LOT better. Just need to keep at it!
All in all, a wonderful trip. Ate great food (Singh's Roti House is really good for less expensive food, in case you are looking), stayed in a nice place (Villas of the Galleon), and did some great diving. We each hit our 25th dive there on Friday, right before we saw the waterspout that lasted for about 20 minutes off Seven Mile Beach. Very cool!
