Anyone heading to Cayman Islands this fall? Anything special I should be prepared for?

Be prepared for some great wall diving at Bloody Bay. IMO it's the best dive site in the entire area. The CA is the only Carribean live aboard that I'd consider doing again. Well maybe the Explorer between St. Martin & St. Kitts. Saba abd Statia was great as well.

The Cayman Aggressor was my first liveaboard last December. It was life changing. Absolutely great diving, great crew, great food and great memories. I am now hooked on the liveaboards. Here is a link to a few short videos I put together from my trip (if the link doesn't work let me know). Unfortunately I did not have my camera on the first night dive where we saw a huge octopus. Enjoy!

Bring seasick meds as the crossing from Grand Cayman to Little Cayman can be pretty rough. Don't overpack you won't need may clothes just dry bathing suits. Bring a good jacket and warmups as you will be in the water a lot and less sun than in the summer months.

The folks from CA will meet you at the airport and get you to the boat with no
problems.

Opt for nitrox for about $100 and make sure you know how to use your computer. I
took my camera and each evening after diving I would download and edit my pictures
on my laptop for each day. In case your camera floods you won't lose all your pictures.

Take an extension cord and power strip if you're taking a camera/light/computer with all recharageable batteries.

Enjoy the hot showers after dives.

I just booked the 8/14 trip. First time diving in Cayman and first time on an Aggressor ship, I am ready to be spoiled!!

Note if you open the housing to download, you increase the risk of flooding, since you are starting over every time. Not opening won't guarantee no flooding but it will help the likelihood.

We need USB ports in the housings.

Make sure you get trip insurance. I did the CA 2 years ago along with an unwanted guest, Hurricane Ike. Now don't get me wrong, we had an awesome time, but I was very disappointed that we didn't get to LC. Not the crews fault. We spent the week circling the island, lots of big surf and closed out vis. I will do this boat again. Going to the Caribbean between late June and early November it is wise to have trip insurance.
The food, service and crew are great. You will be spoiled and will be hard pressed to do a land resort ever again. IMHO.

Yah, trip insurance is a good deal during hurricane season. Camera insurance is available too: DAN offers a plan with a $200 deductible for floods for instance. Downloading them to a laptop still isn't the best insurance for keeping your photos, unfortunately, since laptops can take a beating during travel. I had one crash with photos after a Grand Cayman trip and was only able to access the photos after I butchered the laptop and harvested the hard drive. If you can't keep the originals on your photo media and a copy on the hard-drive (like I was able to recently with 2 16GB CF cards for my D200 over 8 photo days), then bring enough DVDs or other backup media to make a secure backup copy.
